About Me
I have been doing my best to help children and their families for the last 30 and a few years as a speech-language therapist. I’ve been lucky enough to work in many different settings including hospitals, schools, private practice and rehabilitation centres. The best part of my job has always been when I get to see that I’ve been able to make a positive impact, even a small one, in someone’s life.
The biggest thing I’ve learned working with children and their families is that what I do isn’t enough to really make any difference on its own. What I do can definitely help but, children need the consistent daily intervention and support that only parents can provide. Parents are and always will be a child’s best teacher. The longer I work, the more clear it becomes that coaching parents is what helps the most. Every speech therapist should be a coach.
I have two grown children, hard to believe, and two large, lovable, fuzzy, dogs whom I am spoiling far too much. I enjoy taking them for long walks, especially when we have a chance to go to the mountains to the enjoy nature and recharge. Furry tummies to rub as you gaze at beautiful scenery is the best medicine for my soul. I encourage everyone to make time for yourself. You can’t help anyone if you are not taking care of yourself first.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or if there is anything I can do to help you. I can be reached at SLP@Speech-TherapyAtHome.
