Lisps are unfortunately common and can if not treated persist into adulthood. S usually develops between ages 3 and 8 years of age, I often work with children on the S sound starting at 6 years of age or sooner if the trouble is causing them to be harder to understand and especially if it is causing them frustration or if it is a lateral lisp.
Working on S sounds is often fairly easy and straightforward and if the right steps are followed it is something that can be done at home in just a few minutes each day.
Included in this program:
– Assessment guide to help you decide if you need to work on S and how to tell the difference between a lateral lisp and a frontal lisp
– Guide with specific ideas on how to establishing the S sound
– Step by step directions for how to do Indirect and Direct Therapy
– 90 pictures for S at the start, middle and ends of words
– Game ideas
– And more
While all of the ideas and materials are based on my 26 years of experience working with children and families as a Speech-Language Pathologist, they are just a guide. They cannot replace therapy with or an assessment by a Speech-Language Pathologist or any other professional.
